You begin to wonder in front of the young painter Maristella Bono's works: painter's imitation or authentic art work?
The artist who inaugurates today at 5.30 p.m. in the Villa Cambiaso exhibition areas, in Turin Street, at Savona, her first show on the theme "More true than truth", dedicates herself with great prowess in reproducing copies of famous painting.
Her favourite authors, since when she attended the artistic high school "Arturo Martini" of Savona (but she also achieved an advertising graphics graduation) are Monet, Degas, Renoir, Modigliani, Picasso, Van Gogh.
They say about her: "Often, in a work reproduction, the painter tries to recreate the environment in which the original one was born, practising, when necessary, the outside painting".

From 16 to March 22 a journey in painter's imitations
MARISTELLA BONO
Picasso, Renoir and Van Gogh more true than truth
From "Villa Cambiaso" N.14, February 2002

Are we sure that an accurate reproduction of an art masterpiece has less dignity than the original one? What emotions does a Van Gogh's copy arise in somebody who has never enjoyed any original work? Is it an intellectual game or the cultural function of the painter's imitations which is not negligible in the society of the mechanical reproduction of the images? An exhibition of a promising painter Maristella Bono tries to give an answer.
